Expectation Stations - Explained

BEFORE School

  • • Before 7:15, wait outside doors
  • • Breakfast begins at 7:15, students who aren’t eating breakfast wait in Quad until Recess bell rings at 7:30
  • • Hang up backpacks and walk through quad to playground
  • • Students not to be in hallways or quad until 7:45
  • • At 7:45 bell, walk to classroom line

AFTER School

  • • Gather all things from your classroom and pack up backpack
  • • Immediately walk to the front of the school or check in to Bridges
  • • Do not loiter; go straight to your destination
  • • Wait for permission to cross the crosswalk and walk to the cul-de-sac to wait for pickup–paying attention for your car

Why the Rules are Important
The reason we are responsible, respectful, and safe on the playground is so that we can have fun and stay safe and enjoy playing with others.

Office

  • • Only visit office with permission from an adult
  • • Wait patiently behind counter until addressed by an adult
  • • Use an inside voice
  • • Follow adult directive
  • • Safe with materials
  • • Only visit nurse room with permission or to use restroom
  • • Wash hands after using restroom

Using Office Restroom

  1. • Office bathroom available for emergency use at lunch or by Kinder during lunch
  2. o Use the restroom, leave the light on and door open when done
  3. o Wash your hands with one pump of soap.
  4. o Use 2 gentle pushes of paper towel, put your paper towel in the trash, and leave the nurse's room

New Attendance Wheel

  • • 3 students will be called EVERY day to spin the wheel and win a prize!
  • • Be sure you are here and ON TIME win!

Why the Rules are Important
The reason we are responsible, respectful, and safe in the office is to keep everyone safe and healthy and to make sure Ms. Shilo and other office staff can get their jobs done.

Getting School Lunch:

  • • School lunch buyers enter on the right side of the door
  • o Milk + one fruit OR vegetable is compliant
  • o NO MILK + one fruit AND one vegetable is compliant (can’t be two fruits only)
  • o Only take what you will eat
  • o Only take one of each item - if you want two of something, check the share table
  • o BEWARE OF ROLLING FRUIT! Put a thumb on your items that may roll off
  • o Milk goes center square
  • o LARGE space is for entree……flip that side around at the window if you haven’t already. 🙂🙂

Eating Lunch:

  1. • Home lunch-enter on the left side of the door and go directly to the assigned table
  2. • Wait until excused to empty trash items into garbage cans
  3. o Food waste goes into green bin
  4. o All trash goes into gray bin
  5. • Stay seated until dismissed
  6. • Exit quietly through doors by the music room
  7. • Walk in line to recess area

The reason we are responsible, respectful, and safe in the cafeteria is to make sure everyone can participate and enjoy getting the food their bodies and minds need to be successful learners.

Hallways/Quad/Pyramid:

  • • Stay in line
  • • Eyes forward
  • • Use direct path
  • • Voices quiet
  • • Be aware that others are learning
  • • Touch only your belongings
  • • Use walking feet
  • • Hands and feet to self

Why the Rules are Important

•The reason we are responsible, respectful, and safe in the hallway is to make sure everyone can get to where they need to be safely and without causing harm to classrooms that are learning.

Using the Restrooms

  • • Use restrooms correctly and promptly
  • • Use restrooms at recess times (5-minute bell)
  • • Report any messes
  • • Honor privacy and personal space
  • • Throw away trash
  • • Use an inside voice
  • • Lock the stall only when in use
  • • Wash hands with one pump of soap
  • • Use equipment properly without splashing or causing a mess
  • • Use 2 gentle pushes of paper towel, put your paper towel in the trash, and leave the restrooms

Why the Rules are Important
•The reason we are responsible, respectful, and safe in the bathrooms is so everyone can have a clean and private space to take care of themselves.

Snack Area and Bark Box

  • • Snack is for morning recess only
  • • Eat at Snack tables or behind the white line
  • • Throw away trash
  • • Eat only your own food
  • • Stay in your space
  • • Follow the rules
  • • Return equipment
  • • Freeze at freeze bell (feet in the bark; off equipment)
  • • Include others
  • • Compromise
  • • Use good sportsmanship
  • • Ask adults for help
  • • Follow adult directions
  • • Hands and feet to self
  • • Safe with equipment
  • • Stay in your play area
  • • Walk to line

Playground Equipment/Bark Box

  • • Bark stays in the bark box
  • • Only one direction on monkey bars at a time
  • • Slide down slides on your bottom, feet first
  • • Walking feet only in the bark box area
  • • 3 points of contact on bars
  • • No Jumping from the play structure
  • • Students climb down from play structure and freeze at freeze bell until whistle is blown.
  • • Students problem solve and compromise when disputes arise about who is in line first for equipment.
  • • Students walk while playing in barkbox or on playground equipment.
  • • Students keep hands and feet to themselves while waiting for the slide.

The reason we are responsible, respectful, and safe on the playground equipment is so we can have fun and stay safe while playing.


Playground Wall Ball, 4 Square and Ball Court

  • • Stay in your space
  • • Follow the rules
  • • Return equipment
  • • Freeze at freeze bell
  • • Include others
  • • Compromise
  • • Use good sportsmanship
  • • Ask adults for help
  • • Follow adult directions
  • • Hands and feet to self
  • • Safe with equipment
  • • Stay in your play area
  • • Walk to line

Procedures Specific to Ball Areas

  • • Line up **AT THE CONE** at the game you want to play
  • • FIRST person in line is the judge; go with the judge’s call, even if you disagree (Judges - this means you need to be paying attention to the players in front of you)
  • • One bounce of the ball allowed for wall ball and kickball
  • • The ball cart will be located on the blacktop between wall ball and snack area for morning, snack and lunch recesses. There is no ball cart for afternoon recess.
  • • When the bell rings, freeze. Freeze means my body and mouth are frozen and I am holding any equipment still.

  • • Stay in your space

  • • Hands and feet to self
  • • Safe with equipment
  • • Stay in your play area
